Over the holidays, my sister-in-law taught me how to make a cute and creative treat that she invented. Unfortunately, my phone battery was dead at the time so I couldn't take any pictures, but I've recreated them now. They consist of a Hershey's hug sandwiched in between two square pretzels. She cleverly named them jailbirds because the stripes on a Hershey's hug look like the stripes on a convict's uniform and the square pretzels resemble bars on a jail cell. The jailbirds are a great party pleaser; everyone loves pretzels and chocolate. Though, I think the best parts about the jailbirds are that they only take about 10 minutes to make and they require virtually no baking skills! Let me show you how to make my sister-in-laws creative treat.
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350degF.
2. Unwrap all your Hershey's hugs.
3. Lay unbroken pretzel squares onto a cookie sheet, and place unwrapped Hershey's hugs on top of the pretzels squares.
4. Bake pretzels and hugs for three minutes to soften hugs.
5. Place more unbroken pretzel squares on top of the hugs, and push down gently to compress the hugs.
6. Allow to cool for 2 hours before serving. (You can eat them while they warm, but be prepared to get messy!)
We gave some of the pretzels squares that my sister-in-law and I made over the holidays to my family, and they devoured them. Nothing beats the munchies like chocolate covered pretzels!
