Bumpdate: 8 Weeks

How I'm Feeling

This week, I'm finally starting to exhibit some of the typical first trimester symptoms that everyone has heard about, which I'm not so happy about.  I could have definitely gone without the fatigue and morning sickness.

Weight Gain/Measurements

I've gained a pound.  Epic, I know.

Sleep

Oh my goodness, I love sleep.  Glorious, glorious sleep.  I want to sleep all the time...literally.  This is very strange for me because I don't usually like the idea of going to bed or taking naps.  Lately, weekend naps have been like heaven.  Too bad they don't appreciate the benefits of napping at work.

Food Cravings

I'm still loving salty things, but my sweet tooth is starting to come back.  I'm not craving anything desperately, though.  In contrast, I'm starting to despise certain foods.  In particular, I hate Brussels sprouts, processed meats, and anything that has a particularly strong smell.

Other Symptoms

"Super nose" has begun.  I always thought that people were over-reacting when they described a pregnant women's sense of smell.  Boy, was I wrong.  I can smell things so much more than before.  This could be a fascinating experience, but my super nose is highly effective at distinguishing foul smells, which is quite counter-productive when I'm trying to prevent nausea.

Best Moment of the Month

It was so exciting to see the baby on the ultrasound and hear the baby's heartbeat.  At this point, the baby just looked like a little peanut with a blinking light in the middle, which was it's heart.  I was so happy to find out that the baby is doing well and growing just as it should.  This experience finally helped me understand that something is actually growing inside of me, and I'm definitely going to be a mom!

Looking Forward To...

I'm looking forward to spreading the news of our pregnancy!  Our immediate families already know, but I can't wait to tell everybody else!
